Happy Solstice to everyone!
This is the start of my piece from the prompt that I posted on Sunday for Art, Healing and HOPE. I am looking forward to completing it tonight after the ceremony with the herd.
Take some time today to ask…”What needs to be burned off?” Listen deeply for the small quiet voice of the wild howl…”What is calling you?”
Here’s a poem that is included in my book with the permission of the Terma Collective. When I first heard this poem it was right after 9/11 in 2001 and it lead to a HUGE life shift. My ex and I decided to take a year off and travel with our elder dog for a year in a 14ft travel trailer. This poem is my go to when I feel the “simmering…”

“The Box: Remembering the Gift”
What in your life is calling you?
When all the noise is silenced,
the meetings adjourned,
the lists laid aside,
and the wild iris blooms by itself
in the dark forest,
what still pulls on your soul?
In the silence between your heartbeats
hides a summons.
Do you hear it?
Name it, if you must,
or leave it forever nameless,
but why pretend it is not there?
