Write

There are things about being an unknown author that are a bit challenging and one of them is self-promotion. So what do you do if your weak point IS self-promotion? Well, you put on your Feisty-est purple boots and come out kickin'

I have a confession to make. One of my least favorite tasks is…you guessed it…writing about myself. You would think that as one of the people closest to myself that would be an easy task, but for me it is more akin to a root canal.

So what should I be doing right at this moment? Re-writing my press release. Apparently the one I wrote for my book signing on February 6th, was a bit "dry."  "Dry"…ouch! Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the honesty and it comes from someone I trust and know speaks only the truth, but right now taking this on feels like I am swimming in a sea of sharks.

Dry…hmmmm…so…how does one spice up their personal story? Why IS it so hard to write about ourselves? So here I am writing to all of you…instead of writing about myself. What's up with that?

I do think I have a pretty good sense of humor, so maybe I should try doing a bit of stand up in my release. I have been secretly checking out other press releases and yep…some are cotton mouth dry and others tend to be Anne Lamott style (my hero)…filled with good natured self-deprecation. Alas…no more procrastinating…I WILL get off this computer now and force myself to write.

Where is David Sedaris when I need him? I think I'll start with a big glass of water and see what transpires.
